Reverend Mitchell is a native New Yorker. She began dancing at the age of three and will continue until the Lord calls her home. She is trained in modern, jazz, ballet, and African dance. Nicole serves as a member and choreographer for the Allen Liturgical Dance Ministry and ministerial staff as an itinerant elder, under the Rev. Dr. Elaine M. Flake at the Greater Allen AME Cathedral of New York.
Rev. Nicole attended Smith College, MA, where she earned her B.A. in Dance. She has since earned her M.S. Ed in Special Education, M.S. in School Administration and District Superintendency, and M.Div. from New Brunswick Theological Seminary. Currently she is working towards a Doctor of Ministry at New Brunswick Theological Seminary.
She has been blessed to have ministered in several cities throughout the United States, Bermuda, Barbados, and South Africa. She has also choreographed for churches in Queens, New York. When As part of the ALDM, she has been blessed to have ministered with Bryon Cage, Israel Houghton, and Donnie McClurkin; opened for Fred Hammond, video for J.J. Hairston and has ministered in The Night of Healing, a gospel concert held at Madison Square Garden for the victims of 9/11. She has ministered on the Festival at Sea cruise for Carnival in 2011. Most recently, Nicole developed and helped birth the Karar Dance Ministry in the First Baptist Church of Barbados. As part of her gifts, Nicole is able to the potential in others and push them to the fullness of their purpose.
Rev. Nicole works for the New York City Department of Education as an Administrator of Special Education She is the author of ‘Until You Come Home,’ an inspirational book to encourage women struggling in their marriages which is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. She is a member of the National Liturgical Dance Network and an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She is the proud mother of Alisia Diamond and grandmother to West Anthony-Jason.
